D́áke d́áke
Áṋkhi jhaŕer pháṋke pháṋke d́áke

Ghágará pará oŕná d́háká
Komal kat́hor duye mákhá
Marur meye jáy egiye
Bálir tháke tháke

Niirav niiras ogo maru
Nái bá thákuk shyámal taru
Ámi tomáy bhálabási
Maona abhiśeke
Shálmalii kiḿshuke

(আমায়) মরুর মায়া ডাকে
ডাকে ডাকে
আঁখি-ঝড়ের ফাঁকে ফাঁকে ডাকে

ঘাগরা-পরা ওড়না-ঢাকা
কোমল-কঠোর দু’য়ে মাখা
মরুর মেয়ে যায় এগিয়ে
বালির থাকে থাকে

নীরব নীরস ওগো মরু
নাই বা থাকুক শ্যামল তরু
আমি তোমায় ভালবাসি
মৌন অভিষেকে
শাল্মলী কিংশুকে

The desert's magic summons me;
Oh, it is calling and calling...
It calls in the breaks mid stormy tears.

Wearing skirt and orna-covered,
Coated by both harsh and tender,
Desert's daughter goes ahead
On tier after tier of sand.

Oh my silent, arid desert,
There may dwell not one green plant,
But with you I am in love,
Mute at your coronation,
A silk-cotton tree amid flames-of-the-forest.
