Be Free from All Complexes is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in Caracas, Venezuela. The discourse was delivered in English on the morning of 1979 September 26. This discourse is the eighteenth chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 34.[1]
Synopsis
Lord Shiva said that a man must not labour under any sort of complex – that is, a man, a spiritual aspirant, must be free from all complexes; he must have neither superiority complex, nor inferiority complex, nor fear complex, nor defeatist complex. That is, the mind should be completely balanced.
Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that Parvatii asked Lord Shiva, "What are the secrets of success?" One of the secrets was to have a balanced mind, a mind free from complexes. Anandamurti then explains that a balanced mind means proper thinking and proper memory, both which are being distorted when one of these four complexes exist in a person: superiority complex, inferiority complex, fear complex, or defeatist complex. Anandamurti goes on explaining that a sinner's mentality is connected with a feeling of helplessness. Spiritual aspirants must remember that they are never hopeless or helpless, because the Supreme Lord is their father. Spiritualists should become free from all complexes and move with a balanced mind toward their goal.[1]
