- ^ Here, "madhuvan" has a double meaning. On one hand it denotes a pleasure garden (like Eden or the forest of young Krsna's Vrndavan). On the other hand, it also denotes the pápiyá bird (the hawk cuckoo or Indian nightingale referenced in Line 2 of this verse. Through this double meaning, the question raised in the first line (of the verse) is answered.
