Proposal for Deletion of this Category

Sarkarverse Map

This entire wiki is the Sarkarverse. Every article on it, other than project-related information, is connected with Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar. Hence I do not see any point in having a category that is essentially all-inclusive. I propose that this category be deleted. Imposing the appropriate Sarkarverse Map (there are eight) at the top of every article will be a more informative and more useful locator than a Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar category. In addition, this map, combined with carefully selected categories at the bottom of the article, effectively eliminates the need for a Template:Prabhat_Ranjan_Sarkar. We are using the MediaWiki software, but this encyclopedia need not - indeed must not - be a carbon copy of Wikipedia (in content or in style). We can do a lot better. • The first part makes sense. I have few articles' infoboxes with this map. That was not helpful enough (small image, difficult to read etc). We need to find a way to make it more prominent — a new type of template or something — and in a bot friendly way. Tito Dutta (talk) 10:27, 28 October 2013 (MDT)
I agree that the image is unreadable when reduced to 220px inside a 240px infobox. One merely gets a sense of location. To actually appreciate that location, one must click the image to see it in full resolution. So I think we need a graphics artist to improve on these images, but that can happen in due course. However, one great benefit of using the image is that it helps editors to keep on topic and to avoid confusing cross-topic posts (like Ananda Marga combined with Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha or PROUT combined with Proutist Universal). One point for consideration in future revised SVmap files (using the same filenames to facilitate easy substitution without needing to change any article source text) is that the People stratosphere should clearly indicate that this includes all of the personal works, both literary and nonliterary (except for foundations) by people other than Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar. So, for example, if we have a page dedicated to a book by a prominent adherent, supporter, or opponent, that book would also be located at the author's place on the SVmap (adherent, supporter, or opponent). Of course, this could also be explained on the Sarkarverse:article page that explains the SVmap and its usage. --Abhidevananda (talk) 10:59, 28 October 2013 (MDT)
  • Even a 240px will not be large enough. Any reader should get an immediate idea that what is the image all about. --Tito Dutta (talk) 17:15, 28 October 2013 (MDT)
