Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Jiivaner ei bálukábeláy
Jhinuk kuŕiye din cale jáy
Kata kii je áse kata kii je jáy
Mor páne keha náhi cáy

Kata ráuṋa ravi elo ár gelo
Kata smita vidhu áṋdháre hárálo
Kata tárá hese jhare paŕe gelo
Ámi dekhe jái niráláy

Tumi balechile ásibe ábár
More niye jábe samudrapár
Din kśań guńe cali báre bár
Ásá patha ceye abeláy

On this same sandy coastline of life,
Shells having gathered, the days go by.
Many they arise, and many they retire;
In my direction no one casts an eye.

Many a red sun, it appeared and then vanished;
Many a smiling moon got lost in the darkness.
Many stars, having smiled, falling they departed;
I go on watching at a secluded site.

You had said You'll come again:
Taking me, You will cross the ocean.
Frequently, I keep counting days and moments,
Looking out for Your late arrival.
