Nispatra vanabhumi is the 1574th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Niśpatra vanabhúmi
Niśpuśpa dinete ele
Kishalay bhare dile
Mará d́ále phul phot́ále

Je áshá jhariyá geche
Je bháśá múk hayeche
Se ásháy gucche gucche
Mukharatá ánile

Je saritá shukhiye
Marute geche háriye
Phalgudhárá ániye
Táháke baháye dile

Leafless the forest,
Without blossom, on the day You came...
Fresh reddish leaves You infused;
On withered branch You made flowers bloom.

The hope that has been fading,
The language that's been losing speech...
To that expectation in clusters aplenty,
You brought loquacity.

The river that's evaporated,
Gotten lost in the arid wilderness...
Having brought Phalgu's undercurrent,[nb 2]
That dried-up stream, You made it run.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Much of the year the Phalgu River flows mostly or entirely hidden beneath its sandy bed. The river's full form only becomes visible with the monsoon floods. Hence, the flow of Phalgu is taken figuratively to mean an undercurrent of emotion.
