Social Animals and Friends is the third discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The discourse was delivered in English on the morning of 1979 May 24. This discourse is the 23rd chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 12.
Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that among living beings, some are social and some are not. He explains that the universe was created because Parama Purusa was alone, and that state was monotonous. He then divided Himself into many, so He could play with His creatures. Anandamurti goes on saying that Parama Purusa is our only permanent friend and therefore our duty is to become moralists and help His entire universe by making the world a better place.
