Tantra Is Sádhaná, Sádhaná Is Tantra is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in Kolkata, India. The discourse was delivered on the evening of 1978 November 6. This discourse is the fourteenth chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 4.
Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that behind every action there is a particular sound. The sound Ta represents inertness. The first meaning of the word Tantra is liberation from the bondage of crudeness and dullness of mind. Anandamurti then explains that the the root verb Tan means to expand. The second meaning of Tantra is liberation through expansion. Thinking of Parama Puruśa means thinking about the greatest entity - The Supreme Being. Such an ideation makes the mind broaden. Anandamurti goes on saying that expansion is the goal of human life and the means to release ourselves from bondage. Without sádhaná liberation is an impossibility.
