Notes
- ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
- ^ Vratatii (ব্রততী) means "creeper or climbing plant". And, typically, sama (মম) is used as an adjective, meaning "resembling or like". So a literal translation would be: "I am like a clinging vine." However, in the context, another possibility arises. A less common meaning of sama (as a noun rather than an adjective) is "musical harmony", often the final and accentuated note in a measure. If we take that as the meaning of sama, then this would lend the preceding word, "vratatii", an adjectival quality. Though both translations make sense, given the earlier musical references, a more figurative and less literal translation seems more appropriate. Harmony cannot exist in absence of a dominant tune. Harmony is a melody's clinging vine.
