Se chilo atithi máneniko tithi
Cale gelo kichu ná jániye
Elo je kii chale gelo se kii bale
Ámáre keman kare diye

Ájo tár rauṋ dekhi manovane
Ákáshe vátáse khuṋji pratikśańe
Ghume jágarańe niviŕa svapane
Táre khuṋje jái ceye ceye

Alakha puruś durmeya nidhi
Páiyáchilám siiṋcit udadhi
Ápanár bhule rekhechinu phele
Dúr hate dúre sare giye

সে ছিল অতিথি মানেনিকো তিথি
চলে গেল কিছু না জানিয়ে
এল যে কী ছলে গেল সে কী বলে'
আমারে কেমন করে' দিয়ে

আজও তার রঙ দেখি মনোবনে
আকাশে বাতাসে খুঁজি প্রতিক্ষণে
ঘুমে জাগরণে নিবিড় স্বপনে
তারে খুঁজে' যাই চেয়ে চেয়ে

অলখ পুরুষ দুর্মেয় নিধি
পাইয়াছিলাম সিঞ্চিত উদধি
আপনার ভুলে রেখেছিনু ফেলে
দূর হতে দূরে সরে' গিয়ে

He was a guest,
without any consideration of the date,
and went away without telling.
did He come or deluded me,
how has he done like this to me?
even today i see His colour
in my mental garden,
and i search him each moment in sky and air.
i go on lovingly searching him
in sleep, wakefulness and in intense dream.
o the unseen supreme, precious treasure,
i obtained you contained in ocean.
ignoring own ness, i kept him away,
hence he went away far and further.
