O Lord,
Ah, in that cascade of light,
who are you who came,
Bathing, Who has arrived
bathing in the stream of effulgence?
With fresh-wet garments

Spraying this desert mine,
By the beauty of freshly bathed,
Heart's arid wilderness?
wet clothes,
You soaked the dry desert of my heart.

The land in which even grass would not grow,
became decorated with fruits and flowers.

Remembering this fact,
The earth in which grass never grew,
in contemplation of you,
It's been graced with flowers and fruits.
I surrender before you in body and mind.
Recalling this fact and beholding You,
Time after time, body and mind I bow in salute.

I was deaf, keeping my head held low.
I had refused to hear, my face held down;
You filled me with immeasurable and unlimited vibration.
You gave a jolt, great beyond bounds.
By your song and love,
Your songs, Your love... on their account,
I started talking today.
Today, my voice, it now rings out.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Áloker oi jharńádháráy
Snán kare ele ke go tumi
Sadya snánasikta vasane
Siiṋcita kari marubhúmi mor
Hiyár rukśa marubhúmi

Je bhúmite kabhu trńa ná jágita
Phale phule se je halo sushobhita
Se kathá smariyá tomáre heriyá
Báre báre deha mane nami (ámi)

Chilum badhir adhomukhe nata
Spandan dile ameya amita
Tava sauṋgiite tomár priitite
Mukhar hayechi áji ámi

Ah, in that cascade of light,
Bathing, Who has arrived
With fresh-wet garments
Spraying this desert mine,
Heart's arid wilderness?

The earth in which grass never grew,
It's been graced with flowers and fruits.
Recalling this fact and beholding You,
Time after time, body and mind I bow in salute.

I had refused to hear, my face held down;
You gave a jolt, great beyond bounds.
Your songs, Your love... on their account,
Today, my voice, it now rings out.
