O dear lord,
On a stormy night, mid the passion of [[:wikipedia:Pandanus|screwpine]],
You came,
Searching for a vanquished heart, You have arrived.
with the enchanting ketakii fragrance,
Within unbroken darkness, time after time
looking for my lost heart
Your matchless ankle bells had chimed.
during an intensely rainy night.

In total darkness,
Singlehandedly, all gloom You removed;
Your unique ankle bell
Just one moon, You cast light upon sky-blue.
tinkled again and again.
The Lord of Shrines, You are everyone's companion,
Fit to be received the same in everybody's heart.

Single handed
My accumulated weariness You withdrew right away,
You removed my entire darkness,
And in a trice You snatched from me all of my despair.
like a single moon,
Drawn by ebb-tide, I was drifting listlessly;
that radiates light in the blue sky.
You made flow the high-tide, oh my Dearest Darling.

O lord of all places of pilgrimage,
You are the companion of all,
You are revered by all hearts equally.

Within moments,
You removed my accumulated agonies.
And surprisingly, pulled off my entire disapointments.
I was floating about aimlessly;
You placed me in the tide,
O respected entity!

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Ghana varaśá ráte ketakii máyáte
Háráno hiyár khoṋje esecha priya (tumi)
Nishchidra áṋdháre báre báre
Núpur bejechila atulaniiya (tava)

Eká tumi sab áṋdhár saráye dile
Ek cáṋd nabhoniile álo jharáile
Tiirthapati tumi sabára sáthii
Sabár hrdaye sama varańiiya

Puiṋjiibhúta gláni nimeśe saráye dile
Sakal niráshá cakite hariyá nile
Bháṋt́ara t́áne bhesechi ánamane
Joyáre bahále he ádarańiiya (more)

On a stormy night, mid the passion of screwpine,
Searching for a vanquished heart, You have arrived.
Within unbroken darkness, time after time
Your matchless ankle bells had chimed.

Singlehandedly, all gloom You removed;
Just one moon, You cast light upon sky-blue.
The Lord of Shrines, You are everyone's companion,
Fit to be received the same in everybody's heart.

My accumulated weariness You withdrew right away,
And in a trice You snatched from me all of my despair.
Drawn by ebb-tide, I was drifting listlessly;
You made flow the high-tide, oh my Dearest Darling.
