By the winds of time, a flower falls;
With the winds of time a flower falls,
And the heart breaks in sorrow.
And the heart breaks in sorrow.
Tell me, Lord, why arrange things so–
Tell me, Lord, why arrange things so–
On what whim did You create this Earth?
On what whim did You create this Earth?

Do you believe the afflicted dance
What did You conceive for mind? With torment's fire,
while crying in the scorching heat
Burning and burning, does anyone dance?
of excruciating pain?
What do You conceive for life? With stricken heart,
Throbbing and throbbing, does anyone survive.

Do you think they long to survive while dying a living death?
I cannot comprehend why the multitudes still depend on You.
I cannot comprehend why the multitudes still depend on You.
Is is so difficult for you, lord,
Is is so difficult for you, lord,

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Kálera háoyáy phúl jhare jáy
Man bheuṋge jáy viśáde
Bala go bala go kena e vidhán
Dhará raciyácho kii sádhe

Bhevecho ki mane duhkhera águne
Jvalite jvalite keha náce
Bhávo ki jiivane hiyára dahane
Dhuṋkite dhuṋkite keha báṋce

Tomári upar kariyá nirbhar
Kot́i kot́i jiiv kena káṋde
Duhkhe sariye neoyá sukhe bhariye deoyá
E káj karite kii balo bádhe

With the winds of time a flower falls,
And the heart breaks in sorrow.
Tell me, Lord, why arrange things so–
On what whim did You create this Earth?

What did You conceive for mind? With torment's fire,
Burning and burning, does anyone dance?
What do You conceive for life? With stricken heart,
Throbbing and throbbing, does anyone survive.

I cannot comprehend why the multitudes still depend on You.
Is is so difficult for you, lord,
to remove their sorrows
and fill their hearts with joy?
