The yellow leaves are dropping off.
Yellow leaves are dropping off;
The silent wind floats adrift,
And, in the bamboo grove, no stir is brought;
without stirring the bamboo grove.
Alas, without a sound, on the wind they waft.

Alas, the moon shining in the sky is set
The moon that was in the heavens–
and nobody bothers.
Where has she gone, now sunken;
And who wants to keep looking for her?

The clouds
That cloud, upon which seeing
on which peacocks used to dance,
Peacocks were all dancing,
have also vanished away.
To what distant realm has it vanished?
The Unscheduled Visitor
Who'd intoned His song,
His memory floats away, off to kingdom come.

The undated guest sang a song,
Some remnant of His sweet smile,
the memory of which fades far away towards heaven.
A jingling tone did it revive–

It plucks the strings of my heart's lyre.
And yet, your smile awakened tinkling
in the strings of my inner viin'a'.

Piita parnaguli jhare jay is the 900th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Piita parńaguli jhare jáy
Veńukár vane spandana ná ene
Niirave vátáse bhese jáy háy

Je cáṋd chilo ákáshe
Kotháy d́ube gelo se
Ke táhár khoṋja rákhite cáy

Je megh dekhiyá
Mayúr chilo náciyá
Kon sudúre se je háráy
Tithihiin atithi
Shuńáyechilo je giiti
Tár smrti bhese jáy alakáy

Je madhur hásikháni
Jhauṋkár dilo áni
Marmaviińár táre múracháy

Yellow leaves are dropping off;
And, in the bamboo grove, no stir is brought;
Alas, without a sound, on the wind they waft.

The moon that was in the heavens–
Where has she gone, now sunken;
And who wants to keep looking for her?

That cloud, upon which seeing
Peacocks were all dancing,
To what distant realm has it vanished?
The Unscheduled Visitor
Who'd intoned His song,
His memory floats away, off to kingdom come.

Some remnant of His sweet smile,
A jingling tone did it revive–
It plucks the strings of my heart's lyre.
