You came and stood before me
In glory, You came and stood before me;
As brilliant as a hundred suns,
You were accompanied by a hundred suns.
A hundred suns, a hundred suns.
I was standing to one side;
I was standing to one side,
I had an earthen lamp in hand.
An earthen lamp in hand,

Earthen lamp in hand.
Wave after wave breaks over the surging ocean,
Wave after wave breaks over the surging ocean,
A war-cry bursts from the foaming stream of life.
A war-cry bursts from the foaming stream of life.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Sumukhe ásiyá dánŕáiyá chile
(Chile) Shata súryer sáthe
Ámi chinu ek páshe
(Chinu) Mát́ir diipt́i háthe

D́heuyer upar d́heu ese paŕe
Uttál jaladhite
Rańahuḿkáre mete ut́he tárá
Saphen práńer shrote

Chút́e cale shata ańu paramáńu
Duranta sauṋgiite
Káche theke dúre dúre theke káche
Vajre o vidyute

In glory, You came and stood before me;
You were accompanied by a hundred suns.
I was standing to one side;
I had an earthen lamp in hand.

Wave after wave breaks over the surging ocean,
A war-cry bursts from the foaming stream of life.
I was standing to one side,
An earthen lamp in hand,
Earthen lamp in hand.
Hundreds of atoms and molecules rush
In impetuous music,
From near to far and from far to near,
In lightning and in thunder.
I was standing to one side,
An earthen lamp in hand,
Earthen lamp in hand.
