Wave after wave broke
Wave after wave broke
On stormy waters.
On stormy waters.
A frenzied battle cry arose to rescue
A frenzied war cry rose for rescue
From the foaming stream of life.
From the foaming stream of life.

Hundreds of atoms and molecules rush
Countless particles dashed
In impetuous music,
In unruly song and dance,
From near to far and from far to near,
From near to far and far to near,
In lightning and in thunder.
In thunder and in lightning.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Sumukhe ásiyá dánŕáiyá chile
(Chile) Shata súryer sáthe
Ámi chinu ek páshe
(Chinu) Mát́ir diipt́i háthe

D́heuyer upar d́heu ese paŕe
Uttál jaladhite
Rańahuḿkáre mete ut́he tárá
Saphen práńer shrote

Chút́e cale shata ańu paramáńu
Duranta sauṋgiite
Káche theke dúre dúre theke káche
Vajre o vidyute

In glory, You came and stood before me;
You were accompanied by a hundred suns.
I was standing to one side;
I had an earthen lamp in hand.

Wave after wave broke
On stormy waters.
A frenzied war cry rose for rescue
From the foaming stream of life.

Countless particles dashed
In unruly song and dance,
From near to far and far to near,
In thunder and in lightning.
