O dear one,
If You'd come not, oh my Beloved,
if you do not come,
This birth would have gone for naught.
this life of mine will go to waste.
In heavens, storm-clouds had appeared;

Without raining, they'd amount to nothing.
Just as rain clouds in the sky
disappear without ever raining.

The mystic traveler came to my doorsteps
and sang the songs of affection for the devout.

The memory of the affection
At my door the Unknown Traveler had come;
that he left behind
Singing a song of love, He then went off.
is to be offered at his altar.
In my keeping the fond memory that He left,
It will be offered back beneath His altar.

The remains of affection
Though deceased, still now the luster abides;
that the mystic traveler left behind
The love of my life has become bright.
became brighter due to his love
With unstinting reverence, conviction has sung:
and the devout is sure
This my [[sadhana]], it will surely triumph.
that his/her sa'dhana' to attain parama purus'a
will be successful.

Tumi jadi na ele priya is the 1238th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi jadi ná ele priya
Ámár e janam brthái cale jábe
Jalbhará megh ákáshe esechila
Biná bariśańe shúnye milábe

Ajáná pathik dváre esechila
Mamatári giiti shuńáiyá gela
Prańayeri smrti se je rekhe gela
Já punah vediitale samarpita habe

Gatásu je dyuti ájo raye geche
Práńer priitite bhásvar hayeche
Akuńt́ha prańatite pratiiti gáiche
Ámár e sádhaná saphal habei habe

If You'd come not, oh my Beloved,
This birth would have gone for naught.
In heavens, storm-clouds had appeared;
Without raining, they'd amount to nothing.

At my door the Unknown Traveler had come;
Singing a song of love, He then went off.
In my keeping the fond memory that He left,
It will be offered back beneath His altar.

Though deceased, still now the luster abides;
The love of my life has become bright.
With unstinting reverence, conviction has sung:
This my sadhana, it will surely triumph.
