O lord, on heavy rainy day,
On a monsoon day, a day intensely rainy,
along with dark clouds,
The dark clouds in company,
with the resonance of wind,
You've arrived with sound of wind.
you had come.
Day and night, on [[:wikipedia:Ektara|lute one-stringed]],
day and night with the sound
Through just its resonance You've made effusive.
of that on the monochord

you make me restless.
The sun has got concealed by the clouds ebony;
the sun is covered with dark cloud;
With meteoric speed a tempest is blowing.
the stormy wind blows
In the same high velocity the peacock of psyche,
with the meteoritic speed.
Its talk and tail, with sweetness You have filled.
the peacock of the mind dances

with that momentum,
Today there's green loveliness in the cane forest;
onto its raised tail,
In the bamboo grove enticing are straw-bundles.
you fill sweetness
Oh my, on water lilies red and white, on lotus,
by singing a melody.
And on fresh blades of grass, elegance You've lavished.
today in the bamboo grove,
green decoration is seen.
the grasses in the bamboo jungle
are charming. into the lotus,
night lotus, water lily and young grass,
what an abundant green beauty
have you poured?

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Varaśá dine ghana varaśá dine
Kálo megheri sane
Pavan svanane tumi esecho
Ektáráte dine ráte
Tári rańane udvel karecho

Ravi d́háká paŕe geche kájala meghe
Jhaiṋjhá bahiteche ulká vege
Maner mayúr náce tári ávege
Álápe kalápe mádhurii bharecho

Betasa kuiṋje áji shyámala shobhá
Veńuvan trńagań manolobhá
Kamale kumude kahláre kibá
Shaśpe suśamáráshi d́hele diyecho

On a monsoon day, a day intensely rainy,
The dark clouds in company,
You've arrived with sound of wind.
Day and night, on lute one-stringed,
Through just its resonance You've made effusive.

The sun has got concealed by the clouds ebony;
With meteoric speed a tempest is blowing.
In the same high velocity the peacock of psyche,
Its talk and tail, with sweetness You have filled.

Today there's green loveliness in the cane forest;
In the bamboo grove enticing are straw-bundles.
Oh my, on water lilies red and white, on lotus,
And on fresh blades of grass, elegance You've lavished.
