Asociatia de Ajutor AMURTEL Romania is the Romanian branch of Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team Ladies or AMURTEL.[1] This centre was founded in 1995 by a group of local and international women volunteers. Their goal is to work to improve the quality of life for people at risk of social exclusion in Romania and the world.[2]
History
In 1978 Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar founded Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team with the objective to to respond to specifically to the problems faced by women and children in their daily-life struggles. It started growing quickly and had its branch in several countries. The Romanian branch of AMURTEL, which is also known as Asociatia de Ajutor AMURTEL Romania, was founded in 1995 by a group of local and international women volunteers.[1]
Objectives
AMURTEL Romania has the following objectives—
Social objectives
- To intervene in case of calamities and disasters by providing food, clothing, relief aid, and medical assistance.
- To develop and provide social services dedicated to children, families and the socio-economically disadvantaged people of Romania and / or the world.
Education
- To develop and provide inclusive educational services for the socially and economically disadvantaged.
- To manage kindergartens, schools and / or rehabilitation programs.
- To develop programs to help children / people with special needs.
- Vocational training for adults.
- Publishing, editing, and circulation, books, magazines, leaflets or other documents, films or recordings (audio, video or both).
Women’s Rights

Familia Amurtel
Familia AMURTEL is a children's home, run by AMURTEL Romania, that offers a loving, creative, and healing home to children in need of temporary or permanent housing and nutritional and educational resources. It was founded in 1992 and is located at Panatau, a rural village in the Eastern Carpathian Mountains.[1]
Fountain of Hope
This is an after school centre and helps poor school children from the rural village of Panatau to continue their education. Currently they are offering hot meals and homework support for up to 30 of the most socially disadvantaged children in this small farming community.[1]
Sunrise Kindergartens
Sunrise Kindergartens is a children's (kindergarten) school in Bucharest and models an inclusive approach, integrating children with special needs into a kindergarten curriculum specially designed to emphasize social inclusion from an early age in all of the children.[1]
