Anandamurti starts the discourse by introducing Shamkaracarya, a great intellectual of the past who said that among all approaches, devotion is the best. He also said that a devotee should keep away from bad company and seek the company of ''sadhus'' (saintly people). Anandamurti goes on saying that we should remember that we came to this world for only a short time, and therefore we should always be engaged in virtuous deeds, even while sleeping.<ref name="AV12"/>
