He was with me day and night,
He was mine,
absorbed in the core of my heart.
With me day and night.

At innermost He was lodged,
I could not recognise him,
But Him I could not recognize...
I could not understand him
Though seeing, I saw not.
even though i was observing him.

With the red radiance of the morning sun,
With the crimson glow of daybreak's sun,
He brought a heavenly melody to the earth.
To Earth He brought music from heaven.
I did not listen to that melody attentively
Though listening, I heard not that tune;
and did not get intoxicated by its tune.
By its notes I was not enthused.

Under the mid-noon sun,
With the midday's fiery sun
dancing through a devastating rhythm,
Always to dance havoc in rhythm,
a thunderous voice called me,
Thundrously he kept calling, but in fear
but due to fear,
I did not draw near.
I did not go closer.

In the agony of the late noon,
Mid the pallid light of sundown,
Your sound resonated conch-shell-like.
In a conch-like sound His voice rings out;
But intoxicated with ego,
But with the wine of pride, drunk was I...
I did not respond to it.
I could not offer reply.
