O Lord,
On account of You, awake at night,
for you i have been sitting awake
Garland in hand, I sat waiting.
the whole night,
But came You not nor did You speak;
holding a garland in my hand.
On that dark night, why not arrive?

Yet, you did not come,
In the far firmament, the moonbeams,
neither did you tell me why.
They had been begging for Thee...
Why did you not come that night?
They had suffused my heart-sky
With sundry tunes and melodies.
Then, suddenly, my lamp of hope
Extinguished on that cruel night,
It was sleep that alit upon my eyelids.

The moonlight of the sky too
Now the rays of the moon, they have faded away;
was waiting for you.
And it is dark, with darkness on all sides.

Despite my amassed despair,
You filled the firmament of my heart
The gloom that has filled my mind,
with numerous tunes and melodies.
Still I love You with the same faith;

With hope to attain, I remain wild.
Suddenly, with a strong wind,
You extinguished
the lamp of my hope
and brought sleep to my eyes.

The moonlight faded away
and darkness spread all over.
My mind became filled
with the concentrated darkness of disappointment.

But i still love you.
Filled with hope and confidence
I shall attain you.
