Life's last refuge for the defenseless.
Life's last refuge for the defenseless.

You exist in all realms, from their origin to their end,
From start to finish, You are ubiquitous,
And my bountiful life is everbuoyant
The affectionate undercurrent that sweetens.
On the unseen currents of your love.
From left to right, above and below,
Every direction brims with Your divine compassion.
Everyone's most beloved, everyone's most respected,
You can never be grasped by erudition or intellect.

Your unbounded grace flows
Ceaselessly in all directions.
You are the favourite of all, the most adorable.
You are beyond the ken of human intellect and learning.
You are the repository of all finitude
You are the repository of all finitude
In the midst of which you sprout.
In the midst of which you sprout.
Yet we cannot know you
Yet we cannot know you
Who are beyond the limitations of finitude.
Who are beyond the limitations of finitude.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Saomya shánta cetanánanda
Carańáravinda dáo go ámáy
Hatásher tumi áshá vyathiter bhálabásá
Asaháy jiivaner sheś áshray

Ádi hate antime ácho tumi sab bhúme
Saras kariyá sneha phalgu dhárá
Váme hate dakśińe urdhve o adhá páne
Sakal dishái tava karuńábhará
Sakaler ati priya sakaler ádarańiiya
Vidyá o buddhite dhará náhi jáy

Siimár ádhár mama siimá májhe udgama
Siimár báhire kichu bhávite ná pái
Siimár báhire tumi siimátiite utkramii
Tomáke bhávite gele tomáte harái
Manamaińjuśá mama ketakii kesharasama
Sab kichu sáthe niye tomá páne dháy

Enlightened Bliss, Tranquil Majesty,
Please grant me audience at Your lotus feet.
You are hope for the gloomy, love for the woeful,
Life's last refuge for the defenseless.

From start to finish, You are ubiquitous,
The affectionate undercurrent that sweetens.
From left to right, above and below,
Every direction brims with Your divine compassion.
Everyone's most beloved, everyone's most respected,
You can never be grasped by erudition or intellect.

You are the repository of all finitude
In the midst of which you sprout.
Yet we cannot know you
Who are beyond the limitations of finitude.
When i contemplate you i begin to merge in you;
The casket of my mind,
Saturated with the sweet pollen of pandanas,
Rushes in total abandon towards you.
