The melody of the song came floating
Only a song's melody came floating;
into my mind. It oscillated the mind,
Into my mind did it come.
why I do not know?
It gave a jolt to the psyche;
My mind that was covered under dust
I know not the reason.
and could not fly far

due to inability of wings.
Wrapped in dust had been that mind of mine;
It was engrossed in mean thoughts.
To remote place wings could not fly.
Now it started flying into distant sky.
Coated had they been by low thought trite,
The feeling that was confined
But to the far sky do they soar.
to four walls of home,

now breaking the bondage, soars far.
Confined at home had been my thought;
The bird of the cage now goes on flying
Constraining ties broken, glides far off.
dancing with rhythm and melody towards One.
To rhythm and melody dances [[:wikipedia:Tattler (bird)|bird]] caged up;
He goes flying toward the Only One.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Gáneri sur bhese elo
Elo ámári mane
Manke dolá se dilo
Kena jánine

Je man chilo mor dhúloy d́háká
Dúre uŕite párito ná pákhá
Chot́a chot́a bhávanáy chilo mákhá
Se oŕe dúr gagane

Je bhávaná siimita chilo ghare
Siimár báṋdhan bheuṋge bháse sudúre
Kháṋcár vihaga náce chande sure
Uŕe jáy ekeri páne

Only a song's melody came floating;
Into my mind did it come.
It gave a jolt to the psyche;
I know not the reason.

Wrapped in dust had been that mind of mine;
To remote place wings could not fly.
Coated had they been by low thought trite,
But to the far sky do they soar.

Confined at home had been my thought;
Constraining ties broken, glides far off.
To rhythm and melody dances bird caged up;
He goes flying toward the Only One.
