O lord,
Your cosmic game is understood by You only;
only you are able to understand your liila' (divine game),
By anyone else it simply can't be fathomed.
none one else knows it.
Not knowing the sport, I'd know the Sportive One,
Who is the very base of life for all persons.

Not comprehending the divine play,
Why does the sun rise on eastern horizon;
I shall aim at its controller,
And why does it set, immersed in vermillion?
the purus'a (consciousness),
Why does but one moon shine in the sky,
the basis of life.
On moonlit nights, casting spellbinding dreams?

Why does the sun
On the peak of lofty mountains,
always rise in the east
White snow, why does it blanket like umbrella?
and sets in the west,
Why were the heavens colored blue,
floating in vermilion colour?
And why do emeralds bear green beauty?

Why does a single moon smile in the sky
on dreamsurrounding moonlit nights?

Why does white snow lay its umbrella
on the high peaks of mountains?

Why did the colour of the sky become blue?

Why do emeralds radiate green beauty?

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tomár liilá tumii bojha
Ár keha táhá bujhite ki páre
Liiláy ná bujhe bujhiba liilámaye
Práńer ádhár sei puruśere

Súrja kena jáge púrva ákáshe
Asta kena jáy hiiṋgul rauṋe bhese
Ekt́i cáṋd kena ákáshete háse
Svapnamáyá gherá jyotsná ráttire

Parvater uttuuṋga shikhare
Dhavala tuśár kena chátá dhare
Ákásher rauṋa niil halo kena
Pánná kena shyámala shobhá dhare

Your cosmic game is understood by You only;
By anyone else it simply can't be fathomed.
Not knowing the sport, I'd know the Sportive One,
Who is the very base of life for all persons.

Why does the sun rise on eastern horizon;
And why does it set, immersed in vermillion?
Why does but one moon shine in the sky,
On moonlit nights, casting spellbinding dreams?

On the peak of lofty mountains,
White snow, why does it blanket like umbrella?
Why were the heavens colored blue,
And why do emeralds bear green beauty?
