Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Práńer áveg bhará priitir uśńatá jhará
Ke go tumi ele áji ámári mane

O Lord, with overwhelming impulse of vitality,
and exuding warmth of love,
who are You who came into my mind?
I could not recognize or understand You,
but became restless, I do not know why.
I never saw You or heard of You,
I had never thought even in dream
that I shall find You so close.
On the shore of the ocean of effulgent nectar,
beyond language, You charmed me
with rhythm and songs.
I am unable to understand with intellect,
what You go on doing,
With liila’ after liila’, the divine play,
why do You make the living beings dance?
You are beyond reasoning and beyond form,
though within form.
With the sweet illumination of the heart,
come and smile in my meditation.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In the original notation, this word is given as eso. However, in the musical rendition and later Bengali editions, we find háso. All things considered, this seems to be a valid correction.
