Notes
- ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
- ^ Metaphorically speaking, earth, heaven, and hell.
- ^ There are four recognized vedas. Some scholars consider the "three vedas" to be the Rk (ঋক্), Sáma (সাম) and Yajuh (যজুঃ) vedas, considering the Atharva (অথর্ব) to be a later and less significant addition. However, Sarkar accords greater importance to the Atharva veda, viewing the Sáma veda as a late compilation of the musical portions or hymns from the other three vedas, the three main vedas.
