Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Álokeri rathe[nb 2] esechile
Jyotidhárá chaŕále
Ná d́ákitei ese gele
Ná bale mádhurii mákhále

Puiṋjiibhúta gláni jata
Nimeśe dúre sare gelo
Pauṋkilatár ghúrńávarte
Bhálabásá jágilo
Cená ná cená man máne ná
Bháse mamatár pákhá mele

Ashrubhará mor itikathá[nb 3]
Palake halo pulake gáṋthá
Randhre randhre priiti váratá
Shruti smrtite bharále

O Lord, You came along with the light,
scattering the flow of effulgence.
You came without announcing
and smeared sweetness without telling.
All the accumulated agonies,
was removed within moment.
Amid the muddy cyclone, love awakened.
The mind does not accept the known and unknown
and floats into affection
comfortably spreading the feet.
The tearful mental story became
studded with joy within moment.
With the message of love,
You pervaded and filled each pore
of the memories and ears.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In the earliest publication this word was published as sáthe. However, in early and later audio renditions as well as the latest Bengali publication, the word given is rathe. The weight of evidence suggests that the earliest publication was in error.
  3. ^ Here again a couple words have changed, with similar weight of evidence in favor of the latest Bengali publication.
