Abeláy d́ák diye ke go cale jáy
Surera máyáy
Shuńiba ná bhávi mane
Tabu shuńi gopane
Ná shuńiyá tháká náhi jáy

Kata pal vipal anupal cale gela
Asta acale ravi kramashah je d́hale ela
Cári páshe sandhyá ghanáy

Kákali saha pákhii kuláye phire ela
Sońálii dháner kśet áṋdháre je d́ube gela
Tabu káche náhi ele háy

অবেলায় ডাক দিয়ে কে গো চলে’ যায়
সুরের মায়ায়
শুণিব না ভাবি মনে
তবু শুণি গোপনে
না শুণিয়া থাকা নাহি যায়

কত পল বিপল অনুপল চলে’ গেল
অস্ত-অচলে রবি ক্রমশঃ যে ঢলে’ এল
চারি পাশে সন্ধ্যা ঘনায়

কাকলি সহ পাখী কুলায়ে ফিরে’ এল
সোণালী ধানের ক্ষেত আঁধারে যে ডুবে’ গেল
তবু কাছে নাহি এলে হায়

Calling untimely,
with a heavenly melody,
who is he who keeps travelling?

I thought i would not listen,
yet, i secretly hear,
and cannot stay without listening.

How many seconds and moments passed by?
The sun gradually set in the horizon.

The evening deepens all over.
The birds returned to their family with chirping.
The golden paddy fields
sank into darkness.

Alas, still, you did not come.
