O lord,
For this splendid ascending
at the threshold of light,
From death's pit to life's beauty,
in a life that seemed a death well,
Who are You that appeared?
O who are you who came?
Unfastening my gloomy home's entry,
You were standing right before me.

Opening the door of my dark house,
Having closed the windows,
You stood face to face to me.
On the door I'd set a bolt.
I'd been asleep in a darkened abode,
When, calling, myself You awoke.

I had closed the window,
In my mind I'd been thinking
bolted the door
That I know what none conceives.
and was in sleep
In royal dress, You entered my psyche;
in my dark house,
My ignorance, You made evident to me.
when you woke me up by your call.

In my mind,
I had been thinking
that whatever i know,
nobody else knows.

You entered into my heart
with the adornment of a king
and pointed at my ignorance.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Áloker ei uttarańe
Marań kúpe jiivan rúpe
Ke tumi ele
Ámár ándhár gharer duyor khule
Sámne dáṋŕále

Vátáyan bandha kare
Argal diyechi dváre
(Ámi) Ghumiyechilum áṋdhár ghare
D́eke ot́hále

Bheve jetum maner májhe
Já bujhi tá keu ná bojhe
Ele hiyáy rájár sáje
Ajiṋatá dekhiye dile

For this splendid ascending
From death's pit to life's beauty,
Who are You that appeared?
Unfastening my gloomy home's entry,
You were standing right before me.

Having closed the windows,
On the door I'd set a bolt.
I'd been asleep in a darkened abode,
When, calling, myself You awoke.

In my mind I'd been thinking
That I know what none conceives.
In royal dress, You entered my psyche;
My ignorance, You made evident to me.
