Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Ámi chinu base bálukábeláy
Dhyánásane tava tare udayságar tiire
Tumi chile abhimáne
Kon sudúre ke jáne
Se ki maner gahan końe
Bala more bala more

Balákárá pákhá meliyá takhan
Calechila dúr deshe
Jethá ákáshe ságare meshe
Phulamálikáy surabhira sár
Nácitechila rabhase
Se ki tomáy pábár áshe

Diner hisáb rákhá nei mane
Smarańe neiko tithi
Dinpuiṋjiite lekhá nei kabe
Dekhá hala he atithi
Se ki astaságar tiire
Se ki agastya giri páre

Awaiting you, i sat on the sandy beach
on the shore of the eastern sea.

Bearing the agony of an unknown pain,
You remained very far.

I wonder, were you hidden
in the deep recess of my own mind?
Tell me, tell me.

At that time, flocks of geese,
with wings spread out,
flew far away
to where the sky and the sea meet.

In the hope of attaining you,
the essential fragrance of my floral wreath,
danced with great upsurge of emotion.

I did not keep track of days,
neither do i remember dates.
I did not record a dairy of events either.

O guest, when shall we meet again?

On the western setting side of the ocean,
beyond the path of no return
took place our encounter.
