O lord,
You had cherished me;
You loved me
But I've not held You dear.
but i did not love you.
Ebony You moved aside,
But I've not wished to enter light.

You removed my darkness
In the flower's exudation, indication of life,
but i didn’t want to move towards effulgence.
You elicited vibration on a drunk springtime.
With colors flower You did paint;
Indeed, You did imbue grace.
But that grace I've not wished to take.

Into the fragrance of flowers,
You told: "Do not fear... near to Me is ''varábhay'';{{#tag:ref|A specific blessing that confers the granting of boons and the sense of fearlessness.|group="nb"}}
into the expression of life’s vitality,
You are getting fortitude... your refuge is Mine.
You poured vibrations,
Opening your eyes, behold Me;
like an intoxicating spring.
With a new mind-set examine everything."

Yet though my eyes are opened, still I haven't seen.
You coloured me with hue
and poured beauty onto me,
but i didn’t want to take this beauty.

You told me not to fear
as you possessed vara'bhaya
and hence, i could attain fearlessness under your shelter.
You furthermore told me to open my eyes
and see and learn in a new way.
And yet, i still did not open my eyes to see.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Bhálo besechile
Bhálo ámi bási ni
Kálo sariye dile
Áloy jete ámi cái ni

Phulera nirjáse práńer abhiprakáshe
Spandan ene dile durmada madhumáse
Rauṋe ráuṋiye dile
Suśamá d́hele dile
Se suśamá nite ámi cái ni

Balile koro ná bhay mor káche varábhay
Páiyácha nirbhay ámári áshray
Nayana meliyá dekho
Sab kichu nava bháve shekho
Ámi tabu áṋkhi mele dekhi ni

You had cherished me;
But I've not held You dear.
Ebony You moved aside,
But I've not wished to enter light.

In the flower's exudation, indication of life,
You elicited vibration on a drunk springtime.
With colors flower You did paint;
Indeed, You did imbue grace.
But that grace I've not wished to take.

You told: "Do not fear... near to Me is varábhay;[nb 2]
You are getting fortitude... your refuge is Mine.
Opening your eyes, behold Me;
With a new mind-set examine everything."
Yet though my eyes are opened, still I haven't seen.
