Darpaharii prabhu darpa na sahe kabhu is the 397th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2] This song is the third in a series of six chronological songs that briefly retell Sarkar's rich children's story, The Golden Lotus of the Blue Sea. Each song amplifies metaphorical elements of the story and aspects of the plot.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Darpahárii prabhu darpa ná sahe kabhu
Darpa thákilei habei parájay
Du rájputture sońár phulacore
Dharite giyechilo bháviyá habe jay

Pánsi sháltite sampáner bhiiŕe
Báchárii gahanár naokáte ghire
Bhevechilo dhare nebe phulacore
Pariir kársáji sheś habe nishcay

Darpe bhará chilo táder mana práń
Bháveni mrdu hásitechen bhagaván
Parii enechilo sáthe máyáváń
Phul niye gelo káre ná kari bhay

The Lord humbles pride; He never suffers conceit.
Where vanity abides, there must be defeat.
Two crown princes, the robber of the golden lily
They set out to seize, resolving to succeed.

With pinnace and canoe and many a sampan,
With yachts and ferries and ships all around,
They planned to capture the flower thief—
The fairy's trickery would surely cease.

Their hearts and minds were full of pride;
That God was gently smiling, they did not realize.
The fairy carried arrows of illusion;
With lily she slipped away, in fear of no one.
