Hrdaya vidárii marama niunáŕi
Cale gecho kon rúparathe
Dúr nabhoniile anale anile
Kon se sudúr cháyápathe

Álori jhalake esechile eká
Jiniyá niyechile hrdaya alaká
Niirandhra kálo mor hiyá májhe
Svarńadiip jvele nija háte

Caliyá giyácho gandhamadhu rákhi
Andha áṋkhipáte álori rekhá áṋki
Sumanda váte divase nishiithe
Madhura smrti bhará priiti sáthe

হৃদয় বিদারী মরম নিঙাড়ি
চলে গেছো কোন্‌ রূপরথে
দূর নভোনীলে অনলে অনিলে
কোন্‌ সে সুদূর ছায়াপথে

আলোরই ঝলকে এসেছিলে একা
জিনিয়া নিয়েছিলে হৃদয়-অলকা
নীরন্ধ্র কালো মোর হিয়া মাঝে
স্বর্ণদীপ জ্বেলে নিজ হাতে

চলিয়া গিয়াছো গন্ধমধু রাখি
অন্ধ আঁখিপাতে আলোরই রেখা আঁকি
সুমন্দ বাতে দিবসে নিশীথে
মধুর স্মৃতি-ভরা প্রীতি সাথে

O Lord,
on which cart did you leave,
piercing my heart,
and churning the core of my being?

In the distant blue sky,
in wind,
in fire,
in which distant and shadowy path?

You came in a flash of light
and came alone.
You won the heaven of my heart.

With your own hands
You kindled a dreamlamp
in my utterly black heart.

You went away,
leaving behind a sweet fragrance.
You opened up my blinded eyes
by marking a line of illumination.

With the sweet and loving memory
of that gentle breeze
I survive,
day and night.
