The one for whom i had threaded the garland,
Him for Whom garland is strung
and forgotten my pains,
And contemplating Whom the pain is lost,
why did not he come to my home?
Why did He not come to my dwelling?
to whom, day and night, i spoke about
Day and night a few words for all plight of everyone,
all wants of everyone,
With light the heart He makes replete;
why did not he come to my home
Why did He not come to my dwelling?
filling illumination in the heart?

if anybody knows the reason,
If somebody knows the reason
speak out explaining me,
Why nearby He does not come,
why does not he come close,
What for does He smile remotely
why staying away, he smiles,
But close by He does not talk,
why does not he come near and speak?
Kindly explain it to me.
i request and pray all,

this much kindness you offer to me,
I plead with everybody,
the one for whom i am surviving,
Please do me this mercy...
vibrating with melody and tunes,
For His sake I am living...
why has he forgotten me.
So that He may not forget me
And make me vibrant with music and melody.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Jár tare málá gáṋthá
Jáke bheve bholá vyathá
Se kena elo ná mor ghare
Dine ráte kay kathá sabár sab diinatá
Áloke hrday dey bhare
Se kena elo ná mor ghare

Jadi káro tháke jáná
Kena se káche áse ná
Kena dúre theke háse
Nikat́e kena bháśe ná
Bale dáo bojhái nijere

Vinati kari sabáre
Ei krpá karo more
Beṋce áchi jár tare
Se jena ná bhole more
Mandrita kare ráge sure

Him for Whom garland is strung
And contemplating Whom the pain is lost,
Why did He not come to my dwelling?
Day and night a few words for all plight of everyone,
With light the heart He makes replete;
Why did He not come to my dwelling?

If somebody knows the reason
Why nearby He does not come,
What for does He smile remotely
But close by He does not talk,
Kindly explain it to me.

I plead with everybody,
Please do me this mercy...
For His sake I am living...
So that He may not forget me
And make me vibrant with music and melody.
