Hayechila dekhá
Kon se atiite
Sauṋgopane káne káne
Kayechile kathá bhará priitite

Águn jhará phágun máse
Palásh vane końe końe
Jegechila práńer áveg
Chandamay práte

Ajáná pathik e dharár
Káche thekeo dúre sabár
Buddhi diyeo vicár kare
Pái ná dharite

পলাশ বনে তোমার সনে
হয়েছিল দেখা
কোন্‌ সে অতীতে
সঙ্গোপনে কাণে কাণে
কয়েছিলে কথা ভরা প্রীতিতে

আগুন-ঝরা ফাগুন মাসে
পলাশ বনে কোণে কোণে
জেগেছিল প্রাণের আবেগ
ছন্দময় প্রাতে

অজানা পথিক এ ধরার
কাছে থেকেও দূরে সবার
বুদ্ধি দিয়েও বিচার করে’
পাই না ধরিতে

O mystic traveler,
a long time has passed
since i met you in the pala'sh grove,
when you endearingly whispered into my ears.

With the rhythmic dawn of maddening string sounds,
the unending rows of pala'sh flowers
turned fiery
and every nook and corner of the pala'sh forest
vibrated with new life.

The mystic traveler is so near
to this expressed universe,
and yet, he remains so far from all.

No amount of intellect,
no amount of logic
can catch hold of him.
