O lord,
Awake, in dream, and while asleep,
in my sleep,
You are always near to me.
in my dreams
Thinking of You I grow pensive,
& while awake,
Attaining bliss concurrently.
You are always with me.

Thinking about you,
From afar, the celestial flute, it plays
my mind gets filled with bliss,
Within my heart in a rhythmic strain.
as i realise you close.
Having dispensed my life's sweetness,
Having served the welfare of everyone,
My mind now prays for Your compassion.

The flute of the distant heaven
When You I did not recognize,
plays its melody within my heart.
Even then You were part of my life.
Pouring sweetness into life,
In that very melody of yesteryear
it intoxicates all.
Was infused the honey of novelty,

But now my mind dances to a new beat.
My mind begs for your mercy.
Even when i could not recognise you,
at that time also,
You resided in my heart.

When, in this new environment,
I think about those past days,
my mind starts dancing to new rhythm.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Shayane svapane jágarańe
Tumi ácho ámári káche
Tomáre bháviyá man bhare jáy
Páoyár ánanda májhe

Dúr alakár báṋshii báje
Sure laye mor hrdi májhe
Práńer mádhurii d́hele
Sabáre bhariye tule
Man tava karuńá jáce

Jakhan cinini tomáre ámi
Takhano paráńe chile go tumi
(Sei) Háráno diner sure
Nútaner madhu pure
Nava tále man je náce

Awake, in dream, and while asleep,
You are always near to me.
Thinking of You I grow pensive,
Attaining bliss concurrently.

From afar, the celestial flute, it plays
Within my heart in a rhythmic strain.
Having dispensed my life's sweetness,
Having served the welfare of everyone,
My mind now prays for Your compassion.

When You I did not recognize,
Even then You were part of my life.
In that very melody of yesteryear
Was infused the honey of novelty,
But now my mind dances to a new beat.
