Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi ámár kata ápan
Áge bujhini
Chile ámár káche káche
Kena d́ákini

Chile ámár sakal káje
Chande gáne surer májhe
Se viińár tár ájo báje
Takhan shuńini

Ogo ámár calár pathe
Gabhiir áṋdháre
Jegechilo sei smrtit́i
Mane báre báre
Abhimáne gele sare
Ámáy phele anek dúre
Kena takhan páye dhare
Hiyáy rákhini
Sakal dvidhá sariye diye
Dhyáne dharini

O lord, you were so much of my own.
I could not understand this.
You were so close to me.
Why then, did i not call you?

You were within all my actions,
rhythms, songs and melodies.

Even today the jingling of that lyrestring resonates.
I did not listen to it before.

During the deep darkness on my path,
Your memory arose in my mind time and again.
I caused you injuries and agonies,
You left and went far, far away.

Why did not I catch your feet then?
Why did not I hold you in my heart?
