O lord,
How much love-play do You know!
how much divine game you know.
He who remains near, him You shove remote;
And he who fancies separation, him You pull close.

Those who are close by,
Upon sky, by dint of clouds, the moonlight You hide;
You push them away.
And on earth, with meteors the [[:wikipedia:Krishna|Dark Lord]] You invite.
And, those who consider you away,
With muddy water the sweet lotus You do coat;
You pull them close.
And into a downcast heart You bring a glow of hope.

You cover the moonlit sky with clouds.
Having seen the sport, to see the Sportsman is my wish;
You cover the green land with meteorites.
But why is the game's manner that I don't attain Him?
You provide sweet lotus in the muddy water,
Amid cooing of the birds in a lonesome grove,
and, into the disappointed hearts, bring ray of hope.
I stroll about searching; for what reason, You know.
By looking at this divine game,
I want to see the embodiment of the game.
But like the illusive game,
I do not attain him.

Within chirping of the birds in the isolated forest,
why do i continue searching?

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi kata liilá jáno
Káche je tháke táre dúre t́helo
Je bháve dúre táre káche t́áno

Jyotsná ákáshe megh diye d́háko
Shyámal dhará pare ulkáre d́áko
Pauṋkila jale abjamadhu mákho
Hatash práńe áshá-dyuti áno

Liilá dekhe liilámay dekhite cái
Liilár mata kena táháre ná pái
Pákhiir kújane kánane vijane
Khuṋjiyá beŕái kena jáno

How much love-play do You know!
He who remains near, him You shove remote;
And he who fancies separation, him You pull close.

Upon sky, by dint of clouds, the moonlight You hide;
And on earth, with meteors the Dark Lord You invite.
With muddy water the sweet lotus You do coat;
And into a downcast heart You bring a glow of hope.

Having seen the sport, to see the Sportsman is my wish;
But why is the game's manner that I don't attain Him?
Amid cooing of the birds in a lonesome grove,
I stroll about searching; for what reason, You know.
