In this spring season,
In spring in my floral garden, Love,
into my garden,
You came not... why did You not come?
my beloved one did not come - why not?
Blooms have withered, and petals have fallen;
Nectar's intoxication You got not.

The flowers have dried,
For braid-bun I am stringing a garland,
the petals whither,
The part in my hair with oleander I've adorned–
they did not get the sweetness of intoxication.
On earlobes I have dangled silk-tree's flower–
Yet, having come, You looked not.

I have made a garland for my chignon,
Now sitting neath ashok tree's shade,
from fragrant oleander flowers.
A song I am composing for only Your sake.
I decorated the parting of my hair.
Spring left, and summer came...
My ear lobes shake the siris flower.
After so many days, there was compassion.
Yet, you did not come and see it.

Sitting in the shade of the ashoka tree,
I create songs for you.
Spring passed and summer came.
But even after so many days,
You did not show any kindness.
