O lord, in this dense night,
At darkest night, on my mental lyre,
with the lyre of my mind,
The private pains of my heart
whisperingly and through songs,
I will whisper to You...
I shall express to you
I will speak to You in song.
the hidden agony of my heart.

Why in this world,
Why in this world,

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Gahana ráte manoviińáte
Hiyár gopan vyathá
Balibo tomár káne káne
Ámi balibo tomáy gáne gáne

Dharáy kena kánná áse
Hási khushiir páshe páshe
Sahasá sukh sare jáy
Kśańik álor jhilik t́ene

Je bá tomáy sadái d́áke
Dáo ná sáŕá kena táke
Kena go phul jhare jáy
Joyár sheśe bhát́ár t́áne

At darkest night, on my mental lyre,
The private pains of my heart
I will whisper to You...
I will speak to You in song.

Why in this world,
does screaming appear
beside pleasure and joy?

Why do happiness and momentary light
suddenly vanish away under a dark pull?

Why do you not respond to the call of those
who continuously aspire for you?

Why do flowers wither away with the ebb
after a high tide?
