O my most beloved,
On which gloomy night, together with a stream of light,
on which dark night,
Had You arrived, my most Beloved?
along a stream of light,
Sleep-deprived and grief-submerged,
did you come?
Like twining vine had I been churned.

I was like a churned creeper,
There was none for me to see,
flooded with pain,
Sweet inspiration pulling near.
affected by drowsiness.
There'd been no accomplishment, no effort to achieve;
Yet You were there, unaccompanied, oh my Peerless One.

There was no one to see me,
The dark night has retreated far away,
to pull me close with sweet effulgence.
But till now I have not forgot that tale of lunar day.
I had neither purpose nor endeavour.
Each moment, in recollection's interstitial space,

That same story, it peeks out in my psyche.
You were single, o incomparable one!

This dark night has now moved away far,
but i have not forgotten the events of that day.

Each moment,
through the gaps of memories,
they return to my mind.

Kon andhar nishiithe alodhara sathe is the 1645th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Kon áṋdhár nishiithe álodhárá sáthe
Esechile tumi priyatama
Tandráhata vedanápluta
Chilum mathita latá sama

Dekhivár mor kehai chilo ná
Káche t́ánivár madhur dyotaná
Chilo ná sádhya chilo ná sádhaná
Chile tumi eká anupama

Dúre sare geche krśńá rajanii
Se tithir kathá ájo je bhúli ni
Palake palake smarańera pháṋke
Uṋki dey se je mane mama

On which gloomy night, together with a stream of light,
Had You arrived, my most Beloved?
Sleep-deprived and grief-submerged,
Like twining vine had I been churned.

There was none for me to see,
Sweet inspiration pulling near.
There'd been no accomplishment, no effort to achieve;
Yet You were there, unaccompanied, oh my Peerless One.

The dark night has retreated far away,
But till now I have not forgot that tale of lunar day.
Each moment, in recollection's interstitial space,
That same story, it peeks out in my psyche.
