O lord,
In yonder cascade of effulgence,
spreading the effulgence of light,
Oh Who came, You Unknown One?
who is that unknown you who came?
With that sublime, golden luster,
You kept giving me inspiration.

Pouring forth a golden flash of heavenly light,
My entire past You perceive,
You filled me with inspiration.
And future's mesh You do weave.
You fathom all the stories of my psyche,
Whereas of them I grasp nothing.

You know all my past,
On Your account I execute what work I do,
You weave the net of the future,
And by Your grace I remember only You.
You understand all the feelings of my mind.
Master, the day when You'll let me catch hold...
I, on the other hand,
You have knowledge, whereas I don't know.
do not understand anything at all.

Whatever work i do,
I do it for you,
and, due to your grace,
I remember you.

Only you know
when i shall be allowed to hold you,
I do not know it.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Áloker oi jharńádháráy
Ke go ele tumi ajáná
Duyuloker oi suvarńábháy
Diye gele more prerańá

Ámár atiita sab tumi jána
Bhaviśyater jál tumi bona
Ámár maner sab kathá bojha
Ámi tár kichu bujhi ná

Jata káj kari tava tare kari
Tomár krpáy tomárei smari
Kabe tumi more dhará debe prabhu
Tumi jána ami jáni ná

In yonder cascade of effulgence,
Oh Who came, You Unknown One?
With that sublime, golden luster,
You kept giving me inspiration.

My entire past You perceive,
And future's mesh You do weave.
You fathom all the stories of my psyche,
Whereas of them I grasp nothing.

On Your account I execute what work I do,
And by Your grace I remember only You.
Master, the day when You'll let me catch hold...
You have knowledge, whereas I don't know.
