I am a nightingale of the floral garden.

Talk I don't, but I am also with speech...
I croon, and I put forth melody.

I do not talk to anyone,
Daytimes come and go, sweetness on strings of rhyme;
I sing my song and raise my melody.
In my mind, they leave behind colored dyes.
As love's repayment, under the sun gold-dripping{{#tag:ref|The bulbul (or bulbuli) is one of the first birds to sing in the morning, often starting just before dawn and continuing for hours. It also likes to sing in the evening.|group="nb"}}
Golden songs I sing.

Days of sweetness come and go,
I know your words, fashioned well;
leaving behind hues in my mind.
For all of you I knit a golden mesh.

That netting's gold does not get seen...
In this golden brightness,
A [[:wikipedia:Magnolia champaca|champak]] bud is made to bloom in psyche.
sanctified by love,
I sing for you
my golden songs.

I know you well.
For you,
I weave a golden web.
Through that web,
no gold is seen.

Yet, inside the mind
buds of campa' bloom.

Ami gulbagicay bulbuli is the 1939th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Ámi gulbágicáy[nb 2] bulbuli
Kathá kai náko káro sane ámi
Gán gái ár sur tuli

Din áse jáy mádhurii chaŕáy
Ámár manete rauṋ rekhe jáy
Soná jhará rode priiti parishodhe
Shońái sońálii gánguli

Tomáder kathá bhálo kare jáni
Tomáder tare sońá jál buni
Se jáler sońá dekháno jáy ná
Manete phot́áno cáṋpá kali

In a rose garden, I am the bulbuli.
Talk I don't, but I am also with speech...
I croon, and I put forth melody.

Daytimes come and go, sweetness on strings of rhyme;
In my mind, they leave behind colored dyes.
As love's repayment, under the sun gold-dripping[nb 3]
Golden songs I sing.

I know your words, fashioned well;
For all of you I knit a golden mesh.
That netting's gold does not get seen...
A champak bud is made to bloom in psyche.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In every Bengali source, this is given as gulbágicáy. The audio recording has it as gulbágicár (possessive rather than locative case). Here the Bengali source is preferred.
  3. ^ The bulbul (or bulbuli) is one of the first birds to sing in the morning, often starting just before dawn and continuing for hours. It also likes to sing in the evening.
