There were tears in my eyes when he left.
In eyes had been that water,
A tear-studded garland was placed on my chest.
At the time when He left.
I saw his tears but failed to recognise what it meant.
Bathed in tears the garland
I could not understand whether it was love or not.
He placed around my neck.

He left silently and the deep silence that lingered on
I have seen His eye-water;
proved he had left.
Its drift I did not perceive.
Whenever i think of him,
I grasped not what the trust had been,
that bodiless entity comes.
Intrinsic to His loving me.
Silently, He did leave;
Silence tells the story.

He didn't forget me
About Him anytime I recollect,
I also did not forget him.
It matters He is out of body.
It would by lying,
He did not forget me;
if i said i had forgotten him.
Him I too did not forget.
It would be to speak untruly
If said I have lost His memory.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Áṋkhite chilo je vári
Jakhan se gelo cale
Ashrusikta málá
Parálo ámára gale

Dekhechi tár áṋkhijal
Bujhi ni táhára bháśá
Bujhi ni kii chilo áshá
Nihita bhálabásá
Niirave gelo se cale
Niiravatá kathá bale

Táháre jakhani smari
Ese jáy se ashariirii
Bholeni se ámáre
Ámio bhulini táre
Se habe miche balá
Bhule gechi balile

In eyes had been that water,
At the time when He left.
Bathed in tears the garland
He placed around my neck.

I have seen His eye-water;
Its drift I did not perceive.
I grasped not what the trust had been,
Intrinsic to His loving me.
Silently, He did leave;
Silence tells the story.

About Him anytime I recollect,
It matters He is out of body.
He did not forget me;
Him I too did not forget.
It would be to speak untruly
If said I have lost His memory.
