O lord,
You had told me that You will return;
You told me you would come again,
But You left and forgot Your words.
but you went away
You had loved just verbally;
and forgot about it.
So You don't understand my agony.

Perhaps your words of love
The beauty of decked shrine has got discarded;
were only of a superficial nature,
Unloosed have become my braided tresses.
and therefore,
Down has fallen hairbun's garland;
You did not understand my pain.
What's remained is just my anxiousness.

The beauty of my once decorated house is gone.
I keep listening; I fetch strength from bosom,
The bondage in my chignon became loosened.
Whether Your footsteps I hear or not;
The garland loop on my hairdo withered away.
Days I count in hope of Your advent;
All is left, is my earnestness.
My heart is filled with eagerness.

With concentrated fore,
I await to hear your footstep.
In the hope of your arrival,
and with an impatient heart,
I count days and time.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Balechile more ásbe phire
Cale gele bhule gele kathá (tumi)
Bhálabesechile mukhei keval
Tái bojha niko mor vyathá

Sájáno gharer rúp sare geche
Veńiibandhan shithil hayeche
Kabariir málá jhariyá paŕeche
Shudhu raye geche ákulatá

Kán pete rai buke bal áni
Tava padadhvani shuńi ki ná shuńi
Ásár ásháy dinkál guni
Práń bhará niye vyákulatá

You had told me that You will return;
But You left and forgot Your words.
You had loved just verbally;
So You don't understand my agony.

The beauty of decked shrine has got discarded;
Unloosed have become my braided tresses.
Down has fallen hairbun's garland;
What's remained is just my anxiousness.

I keep listening; I fetch strength from bosom,
Whether Your footsteps I hear or not;
Days I count in hope of Your advent;
My heart is filled with eagerness.
