Lyrics

Roman script Bengali script Translation

Dúr ákásher tárá ogo,
Tomáy ámi jániná
Jániná, jániná, jániná

Dhiire ese páse baso,
Nijeke gopan karo ná
Karo ná, karo ná, karo ná

Anek diner anek vyathá,
Jame áche anek kathá
Ujáŕ kare bolbo tomáy,
Badhir hoye theko ná
Theko ná, theko ná, theko ná

Sabár ápan sabár priya,
Sakalera ádarńiiya
Sabái tomáy cáiche káche
Dúrer bándhan rekho ná
Rekho ná, rekho ná, rekho ná

Jiṋániirá sab jáhái bolun,
Shástra vyákhyá jáhái karun
Ámi tomár tumi ámár,
Anya kathá máni ná
Máni ná, máni ná, máni ná

O Lord, You are a star of the distant sky!
I do not know You.
I do not, do not, do not!

Come slowly and sit by my side.
Do not hide Yourself from me.
Do not, do not, do not!

So many sorrows of so many days,
So many ideas stored in my mind,
I will pour out my heart to You.
Do not pretend to be deaf.
Do not, do not, do not!

You are the nearest, You are the dearest!
You are the one whom all adore most!
Do not maintain this bondage of distance.
Do not, do not, do not!

Whatever learned people may say,
whatever the scriptures may say,
I am Yours, and You are mine!
No other idea will I accept.
I won't, I won't, I won't!

Purport

This is how Sarkar himself described the meaning of the song—[3]

O Paramapurus'a (Supreme Consciousness), at present You are a star of the distant sky. I see You, but I don't know You. Come gradually closer to me and sit by my side. Don't try to hide from me. I have many things to say to You. So many pains and so many ideas have accumulated in my mind. Let me express them fully; don't pretend to be deaf. Come near to me. I will tell You everything, and my heart will become light. You are the dearest, the most adored by all. Everyone wants to be near You; please don't remain far away. Scriptures bear no significance for me. I am not to be guided by the scriptures. I am to be guided and controlled by devotional love. Whatever the scholars or scriptures may say, I know only that You are mine, and I am Yours. Nothing else can I accept.
