Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

He devatá balo ámáy
Kena raye gecho dúr
Ahamiká jadi chilo
Kena karo ni tá cúr

Tomár álo tomár vátás
Tomár rauṋei ámár vikásh
Tomár álo
Tomár mát́i tomár ákásh
Sab kichu tomáte bharpúr

Ámi ańu tuccha ati
Tumi virát́ vishvapati
Ámi ańu
Sab agatir tumii gati
Ámi kśudra diin átur

Dharáy jabe keu chilo ná
Ná sádhya ná kona sádhaná
Dharáy jabe
Chilo avyakta eśańá
Tomáy pete he madhur

O lord,
tell me why you have remained afar.

If ego was present,
why have you not crushed it?

Within your light,
Your air,
and your colour,
lies my development.

The earth and sky are yours,
everything is filled with your existence.

Though you are great,
I am but a meagre particle.
O lord of the universe!

You are the ultimate desideratum of everything inert;
On the other hand, i am the smallest, distressed pauper.
When there was nobody on this earth,
there was nothing achievable,
nor was there the effort for attainment.

O sweet one,
in the end, only one unexpressed longing remains,
and that is to attain you.
