Tomáy peyechinu (ámi)
Pará aparár bandhana bheuṋge
Hrdaye dharechinu (ámi)

Darshan jiṋán chila ná ámár
Káke bale sár kii bá asár
Bujhechinu krpá hayeche tomár
Se karuńá labhechinu (ámi)

Jyoti esechila rátir beláy
Andha tamasá vivarńapráy
Se mahánishiithe niirave nibhrte
Priitidiip jvelechinu (ámi)

জানা-অজানার শেষ পারাবারে
তোমায় পেয়েছিনু (আমি)
পরা-অপরার বন্ধন ভেঙ্গে’
হৃদয়ে ধরেছিনু (আমি)

দর্শন জ্ঞান ছিল না আমার
কাকে বলে সার কী বা অসার
বুঝেছিনু কৃপা হয়েছে তোমার
সে করুণা লভেছিনু (আমি)

জ্যোতি এসেছিল রাতির বেলায়
অন্ধ তমসা বিবর্ণপ্রায়
সে মহানিশীথে নীরবে নিভৃতে
প্রীতিদীপ জ্বেলেছিনু (আমি)

O lord,
at the end of the ocean of knowing and unknowing,
I could attain you.

Breaking the bondage of beyond and within,
I could hold your heart.

I did not know philosophy;
neither had i affection in my heart.

What is essence and what is superfluous;
I could understand only with your grace.
That mercy of yours, i have now attained.

Light came in the night,
destroying darkness to almost nil.

In that isolated and silent great night,
I kindled the lamp of memory.
