Prabhu mama priyatama is the 445th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Prabhu mama priyatama
(Chút́i tomáy pete) eklá pathe
Kastúriimrga sama he dúratama

(Álo jhará práte) áṋdhára nisháte
Cená pathe pathe háráno marute
Ácho sáthe sáthe tabu chút́i pete
Áleyári piche e kii bhrama mama
Prabhu mama nikat́atama

Oh Lord, my dearest,
I run after You down lonesome roads,
Like the muskdeer,[nb 2] oh Most Remote.

You are so near.
On dark moon nights
under moonless skies
along known paths
or lost desert ways,
You are near.

Yet i seek you
mistakenly chasing a mirage
while you
dearest
remain so near.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In yogic scriptures and commentaries, there is an oft-told fable about a musk deer who searches the world over for the source of the intoxicating fragrance that is coming from the deer's own self. The moral of the story is that happiness is to be found within and not without.
